Couple of things

Number one, a couple of my friends and I took a closer look at my driver's license last night and what on a quick glance appear to be psychedelic flowers over the picture turned out on closer inspection to be tiny depictions of the flag of Nova Scotia. Which makes more sense.

Tiny, psychedelic depictions of the flag.

Also, after suspecting something for several days I just tore apart the cupboards above the stove and confirmed that, yes, there's mouse activity up there. That, my friends, is one gally mouse, considering how many cats I have. Who are apparently not exactly on the job. We're not blaming Coney for this one because (a) it's been years since he could jump up on a counter, and (b) he made his position on the whole predator thing very clear years ago: he stalks and hunts the wily raspberry, or possibly raisin, but tiny animals are only suitable as new friends. Vlad and Bojo, who have both been outdoor cats at different times, are another matter entirely.

Okay, admittedly, it's sort of funny.

Also, I've finished with The Other Boleyn Girl and if I were of a more historical bent I would be writing a lengthy post detailing all the ways in which the book deviates not only from accepted scholarship about Henry and Anne, but also from known historical fact (as opposed to theories.) As it is, I will simply remark that Real People Fanfic is apparently not confined to the Internets.

Also, we had a lesson yesterday, in which Coach Girl brought in a canine massage specialist who's done some work with horses and she talked to us a bit and then did a sort of assessment of several of our horses. Mitzi, who I can generally count on to be a little silly, was calm and relaxed and let the masseuse demonstrate stretches and so forth. She (the masseuse) also demonstrated looking for heat in the horses' backs and told us that when she feels it the animal reacts even if there's no actual contact. And by golly, when she ran her hand just above Mitzi's spine there was one spot where Mitzi persistently flickered her skin like a fly had lit on her. It may be a tense spot from walking around on ice outdoors--whatever it is, it's definitely there. It was the only moment she showed any signs of anxiety about anything the masseuse did.

I think there's supposed to be an actual equine massage workshop held somewhere around here in the spring. I think I'll see if I can sign up.

Oh, also--the farrier came out Friday and his verdict on Mitzi's hoof matched my theory: no big deal, result of a minor coronet injury, it'll grow out on its own.

Whew!
