BIL update

My sister sent out an update this morning. Apparently the new kidney is functioning perfectly. He'd had a bit of a temperature for the first day but the docs figured it was related to a cold he and my sister both had a few days ago. Obviously they've pumped him full of antibiotics as a prophylactic measure and the temp is gone. He's been up and around a lot and walks around with no pain. Yay!

He should be ready to come home over the weekend! My sis is taking a couple of weeks off to look after him--lots of visits back to the transplant unit for the first year, then things taper off. Still beats dialysis.

Prayers and all continue, but so far so good...

I am so glad to hear the good news! That is fantastic! I can only imagine how relieved your sister must be.

Thank you, and yes, she's really relieved. A few weeks ago they were afraid he wouldn't get the transplant at all, and now this.

I'm really glad to see the transplant took - dialysis is such a terrible ordeal - I don't know how people deal with it.

Thank you. And dialysis was such a drag that this all looks better by comparison. So far, so good.
